Don Juan Pond Rock Glacier (PS02): B-425 - Dry Valleys Ice and Rock Glaciers (B-425, B-504)

Project: Dry Valleys Ice and Rock Glaciers (B-425, B-504) (B-425)

Description

Don Juan Pond Rock Glacier is a debris covered glacier in Wright Valley that feeds into the hypersaline pond of the same name. Polygonal permafrost features adorn the glacier, and a small stream runs on the surface during the summer melt. The site itself is the glacier toe. It should be noted that Don Juan Pond and the rock glacier are specially protected areas; a permit is required to work in this area.
