Project: Dry Valleys Ice and Rock Glaciers (B-425, B-504) (B-425)

Description

The Canada Glacier Basin site is located on the southwest side of the Canada Glacier. It is one of a chain of basins draining in Lake Hoare, and can be reached on foot from Lake Hoare camp in approximately 45 minutes, assuming the frozen moat can guarantee safe passage. Otherwise, the site must be reached by helicopter. The site has a permanent base station pole upon that is used the spatial reference for the site as the basin experiences significant motion and melt year to year. Four additional aluminum poles exist at the site upon which targets can be mounted. Post-2011 data can be found in the B-504 and C-504 directories.
