The purpose of this project is to ascertain whether site-specific and oral history data exist to determine why and when a series of cairns were created atop Cross Peak on Baranoff Island, Alaska. The project goal is to pursue an accurate interpretation of the role of rock cairns within the cultural topography of Southeast Alaska.
