U-043 - Rocky Mountain National Park Periglacial Processes

PI: Dr. Jason Janke
Project Lead: Sarah Doelger
Funding Source: NPS H12000040001
Location: Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Dates: 2012-06-01 to 2012-06-01

Project Summary

The objective of this project is to study snow deposition and analyze its effects on a set of earth hummocks and ground temperature along Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. By subtracting the two data sets, a spatial estimate of snow depth and distribution will be obtained. These results will be compared with ground temperature data loggers installed along the road. Students will be exposed to data sets that are not typically available due to the high cost of TLS acquisition.
