We would like to use TLS to scan quaternary surfaces and/or Miocene outcrops as part of a one-week long advanced field course project. We run our field course in January in the Lake Mead, Nevada region. The goals would be to (1) introduce TLS to advanced geoscience students in applications in both geomorphology and sedimentology; (2) characterize neo-tectonic deformation and incision histories of in the Echo Wash area; (3) characterize Miocene lacustrine limestone facies architecture; and (4) develop TLS-based course materials for sharing with the broader geoscience community through the serc.carleton.edu site.
