The Block Mountain quadrangle is an area with abundant geologic exposure that is visited by field camps from around the country. Located in southwestern Montana about 6 miles east of Glen, MT, the area has exposed upper Paleozoic to Mesozoic rock that has undergone Sevier style deformation. The topography consists of ridges held up by limestones and sandstones and valleys made up of shale and siltstone. The area is sparsely vegetated, making it an ideal location for geologic mapping exercises
